When was the last time you took a walk in your neighborhood? The root of some of our housing shortages might make sense to you and perhaps why more people are finding themselves stranded in the street.
No one plans to be homeless in life, but that reality is tangible for many people.
Consider that interest rates have risen, rent is up more than 30%, and home prices are up almost 20%. If it wasn’t obvious before, it is now abundantly clear that housing will be a problem for many.
And as a result, homelessness will be a problem for many.
The isolation you might feel from walking your neighborhood is being felt by many who do not have a realistic way to keep their homes or get another one that meets their needs.
What is not made apparent on the slim sidewalks and multiplane highways is that Americans are on the knife’s edge, and we would like you to join us in making a difference
4 Programs
We offer various programs to homeless families in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Polk Counties. Each is designed to target a different population or stage in their journey to having a place to call home.
Mobile Outreach provides essentials to parents and their children as they are experiencing homelessness and up to a year after.
Bridge housing gets families temporary shelter, find stable jobs, and then move to a permanent residence.
Educational programs offer classes on self-reliance, resume building, financial literacy, budgeting, and other life skills.
Better Together is our commitment to follow-up monthly for the first year providing care packages, counseling, and letters of encouragement to our families.
3 Ways To Be Part Of The Movement
We recognize that a heart for giving can translate into different actions and have three main ways for you to help end homelessness and alleviate the burden of lack on those currently experiencing homelessness.
The first is to Donate! Much like any other organization, monetary help affords us the runway to offer curated assistance and acquire the necessary supplies to keep our mission alive.
The second is to Volunteer! If you live close to any of the areas we serve, lend us your time and meet the people we impact in person. You can hear their stories and put a face to the crisis that you often read about.
The third is to write a letter! Words matter and they have a profound impact. Whether you have emerged from homelessness, have words of encouragement, or are simply empathic to the cause, put pen to paper and write to a homeless individual or family.
